The Clarity Digest is an independent news outlet covering TVA and Tennessee energy. Based in Knoxville, the backyard of Tennessee energy, we report on the choices that drive how electricity is generated, how it's sold, how it functions, and we break down what those choices do to your bill, your community, and your future.

We attempt to make difficult topic material easily understandable, while conceding nothing at all on depth. Energy policy might be technical or abstract, but it has an impact on every home and every business. We boil those topics down into plain English, relate them to things in your neighborhood and the big picture, and tell you why you must care.

We think journalism can enlighten, not enrage. You won't see partisan propaganda or sensationalism on our website. Instead, you'll receive research-based reporting, fact-checking, and clarity. We give you sources, describe our reasoning, and make our articles readable.

Our beat is energy, but our coverage overflows into fields which overlap with energy very heavily. That could be environmental policy, infrastructure, economic development, labor, technology, or public accountability. Technically focused but adaptively, we can examine the large forces operating in Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley while ever and always maintaining a sharp focus on depth and clarity.
